Use Kayak Explore To Visualize Mutli-City Fares And Find The Cheapest Route

Using multi-city flights to see more places for less is an effective, albeit time-consuming process. You can however visualize your options and see the prices for each leg of your trip on a Google Maps mashup called Kayak Explore.

How It Works

Kayak Explore lets you set your home city so you can see the cheapest fares from there based on when you’ll be flying. The interface is very reminiscent of searching for flights via Kayak’s homepage. You can also set your price range, preferred average temperature, languages spoken, and specific activities to narrow down the results. Kayak Explore isn’t just for looking up legs of a multi-city or RTW trip planning either, it can help you find low round trip fares for places you might never have considered visiting.

Booking Your Flight

Kayak Explore pulls its data from the airlines that work with the online travel booking engine Kayak.com. While not all of the deals on the map are available once you go to book, it does give you a general sense of what connecting cities are bound to give you the cheapest airfares on your multi-city flight. Kayak Explore can also convert your search results into a url so you can share your plans with friends via email or Twitter.
